Purple Air Monitors

These small air monitors monitor particulate matter 2.5, which are very small particles in the air that can contribute to breathing issues, heart disease, stroke, cancers, and nose and throat irritation. It then uploads that information into a real-time air monitoring map so that you can understand and share air quality data.

Power Play: An Environmental Justice Game

Picture of the game board for Power Play: An Environmental Justice Game

What is Power Play?  The goal of Power Play is to figure out what types of community, legal, and political actions teams can take to approve or deny different types of community projects (including things like a community garden, low-income housing, or large petrochemical facility).  By working as a team and deciding which types of activities and government support will move their team forward, players have the chance to be a part of governmental decision-making first-hand, and see what it takes to advocate for their community.

  • Who can play?  Power Play is a great game for high-school-aged students through adults!

  • How many can play?  2-30 people have played together and had a great time.  The game is best for groups of 6-15ish.

  • Where can we play?  Power Play has been played in libraries, community organizations, high schools and colleges, coffee shops, outdoor festivals, government and municipal buildings, in religious and civic groups, and literally anywhere else where people are coming together.

  • Do we have to be in-person?  For now, Power Play is an in-person board game.  Fair Shake can facilitate in-person in some communities.  We also can loan out a copy and give you the instructions to host your own game night if we cannot be there in person.
